On Saturday 20th February our archers braved the rain and the wind and headed to Chessington for the Chessington Bowmen Kings Cup 2016.

This was a World Record Status WA18m shoot. It’s a great venue and is always a good oportunity to see some familiar faces.

Sutton had a great day, winning two gold medals and our Tournaments Officer finally managed to claim his FITA Target badge having been trying for it at this shoot for 3 years!

Big congratulations go out to Sheila Ovenell for winning both her session and the overall medal for Ladies Barebow with a score of 498 points, which is also a new personal best for Sheila.

And congratulations to Mitchell Philpott who won both his session and the overall medal for Gents Compound with a score of 572, also a new personal best. Well done Mitch!

Last year we came second in the team cup with our recurve team but unfortunately we didn’t have enough recurve shooters there this year to challenge the other clubs so hopefully next year we can go in with a great recurve team and aim for the Cup.
